DIRECTORSCUT

Privacy notice

Effective 14 September 2026

These privacy details describe the DirectorsCut service at directorscut.io and app.directorscut.io. Contact support@directorscut.io.

About this notice

DirectorsCut turns recordings into editable, captioned clips. This notice explains the information used when you visit the website, create an account, process a recording or connect a publishing channel. Contact support@directorscut.io about your information or any privacy concern.

We use account and content information to provide the features you request, handle billing and support, protect accounts, prevent misuse and investigate service failures. Connecting a social channel is optional and requires your permission. Declining a connection does not prevent you from editing and downloading clips.

Your account and recordings

We store your name, email address, password hash, verification and password-reset records, and sign-in sessions. Your password is not stored in plain text. Security records can include request times, network information, account identifiers and error information.

The service processes your source recordings and original links, transcripts, prompts, selected passages, captions, editing settings, exports, logos and saved brand styles. Upload or import only material that you have the permissions needed to use, including information about people in the recording.

We record processing-minute usage, storage usage, subscription references and payment-status information. Stripe handles payment-card details on its hosted payment pages; DirectorsCut does not ask you to enter card numbers into its own forms. Support messages and replies contain the contact information and content you send us.

Who processes information

DigitalOcean provides hosting, database and media storage. Resend handles account email and the support inbox. Stripe handles hosted payments and subscription management. Link imports contact the source website and may use NodeMaven as a network relay to retrieve the requested recording.

CometAPI provides a gateway to AI models used for transcription and clip discovery. Depending on the requested feature, processing sends audio, transcript text, your instructions and selected video frames to that service and its underlying model provider. Channel authorization tokens and channel-profile details are not sent to the AI service. AI-generated transcripts and suggestions can be inaccurate; check the result before sharing it.

These providers may process information in countries other than yours. Our current hosting and email services include processing in the United States. Provider retention and backup practices are separate from the expiry shown for a DirectorsCut project. The app's request settings do not amount to a promise that every upstream provider immediately erases data.

Information is shared as needed to supply your requested features, maintain security, obtain service support, or comply with a valid legal requirement. We do not sell channel data or use it for advertising or model training.

Connecting YouTube

DirectorsCut uses YouTube API Services for channel connections and publishing. Google asks permission to view your YouTube account and upload videos. We use this access to identify the channel you connect, upload the finished clip you confirm, and check the processing status and visibility of that upload. We do not ask for your Google password.

We store the connected channel's identifier and display name, encrypted access and refresh tokens, granted permissions and authorization times. For a publishing request we store the finished-video reference, title, description, visibility, audience and altered-content choices, upload progress, YouTube video identifier and link, status and timestamps. This lets you review the destination and avoid accidentally sending the same request twice.

You choose the clip, channel and post details before anything is sent. The selected video and details are shared with YouTube after your confirmation. Other people can see the uploaded video according to its YouTube visibility. Google processes the information under its own privacy policy.

You can disconnect in DirectorsCut's Channels page or revoke DirectorsCut's access in your Google Account permissions. Disconnecting removes the saved connection details and publication history from DirectorsCut and attempts to revoke the token immediately. If Google cannot be reached, we show you how to finish removing access in your Google Account. This does not delete the videos already on YouTube or your source recordings and exports in DirectorsCut.

Connecting Instagram

When available, Instagram connection uses Meta's Instagram API for a professional Business or Creator account. The permissions identify your Instagram account and allow publishing the finished videos you choose as Reels. We store the account identifier, display name and username, encrypted authorization tokens, permission and authorization information, and publication status and identifiers.

When you confirm a Reel, Meta receives the selected finished video and caption. A temporary signed media link lets Meta retrieve that video for the publishing request. Connecting an account alone does not post anything. The Reel is governed by your Instagram account's visibility and Meta's terms and privacy practices.

Disconnect in Channels to remove the saved connection and publication history. Removing access in Instagram or requesting deletion through Meta also removes the connection data covered by that request when Meta sends its callback. The confirmation page tells you what was removed. Your DirectorsCut source files and clips, and Reels already published on Instagram, remain unchanged.

How long information stays

New Free projects expire after 48 hours. New Starter, Creator and Pro projects are kept for 30 days. The expiry saved on an existing project does not change automatically when you change plans. Projects share your plan's storage allowance: Free 1 GB, Starter 5 GB, Creator 10 GB and Pro 15 GB. Download what you want to keep before the expiry shown in your account.

Expiry or deleting a project ends access in the application and queues its files for background removal. Some project titles, asset names and operational records can remain after media removal. Account data stays while your account is open, subject to deletion requests and records needed to resolve billing, security or legal matters. Logos and saved styles remain until removed or the account is closed. Unverified registrations and stored support replies currently have no automatic expiry; contact us to request their removal.

Connected-channel authorization and profile information are checked regularly. Invalid or revoked authorization removes the connection data when detected. If a connection cannot be revalidated, its stored data is removed within 30 days of the last successful check. Publication history is also removed within 30 days. Disconnecting removes that connection's stored identity, tokens and publication history sooner.

Backups and service-provider records do not disappear at the same time as active application data. Limited account and channel deletion records are kept independently of those backups to prevent a restored copy from reviving an erased account or removed channel connection. These records contain internal account, workspace or channel identifiers, the connection version where relevant, deletion time and any necessary billing references. They do not contain channel names, authorization tokens or videos. Deletion does not erase your own downloads, other devices' copies or posts already sent to YouTube or Instagram.

Cookies and browser storage

An essential session cookie keeps you signed in and expires after 30 days. The editor can save recovery edits in your browser. Sign-out and account deletion attempt to clear DirectorsCut recovery data on the current browser. We do not place advertising or third-party analytics scripts in the current app. Providers and hosting infrastructure may keep their own operational logs.

Your choices and requests

You can edit your content, delete projects, remove saved branding, disconnect channels and review account deletion in the app. Account deletion is separate from cancelling a subscription. Billing-linked or shared accounts may require assistance to complete closure; follow the explanation in Account & billing.

Contact support@directorscut.io to request access, correction, a copy or deletion of your information, or to object to or restrict a use of it. Rights and exceptions depend on the laws that apply to you. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder. If you have a concern that we cannot resolve, you may contact the relevant data-protection authority.

We will update this notice when the service or its data practices change. Material changes to connected-channel data use require a new acknowledgement before the changed connection feature can be used. The effective date above identifies this version.
